Software Engineer (Quality Assurance)

Located in Chicago, IL - Serve as a member of the development team producing software for electronic trading systems. Participate in requirements gathering sessions and software design discussions to understand the features of the system and how they are implemented. Design test plans intended to ensure the quality of the software system before deployment. Formulate comprehensive tests plans and develop test scripts and procedures to execute plans. Create and execute automated tests using scripting languages and other automation tools. Communicate feedback to software developers regarding testing issues.

Develop and maintain a system of documenting and tracking requirements, tests, test results, and defects. Prepare detailed test cases considering Equivalence Partitioning, Boundary Value Analysis, Error Guessing and Visible state transitions. Perform black box testing including smoke, regression, and integration, functional testing using QuickTest Pro and system testing on various hardware platforms and software configurations. Perform database testing by writing queries in SQL. Manage the testing process, schedule batch tests, and log and track defects using SpiraTest Tool. Perform back-end database testing by executing SQL queries.

Maintain clear communication with all teams involved in SDLC. Responsible for the investigation of defects and problems encountered during testing. Execute User Acceptance testing.

Applicant must possess a Bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering or related field, along with 5 years of progressively responsible experience as a Software Quality Engineer, Software Developer, or in a related position. Additionally, the applicant must have professional experience in:

  1. Requirements gathering, software design, and software test design
  2. Creating and conducting automated testing and results tracking using QuickTest Professional and QualityCenter or SpiraTest
  3. Using VB, Java, and C in the automated testing context
  4. Creating complex SQL queries and StoredProcedures
  5. Creating Windows and Unix shell scripts for testing activities; regression testing on multiple hardware platforms and software configurations
  6. Performing Tests/SpikeTests/Stress tests and monitoring using LoadRunner and QALoad

Sr. Fixed Income Trader

(5 positions) in Chicago, IL: Trade US Treasury yield curve for Chopper Trading’s proprietary account. Profitably manage risk based on a preset allocation of resources and limits. Trade electronically using Chopper’s proprietary software. Trade Government Securities as well as related derivatives products. Develop new trading strategies individually or with a team. Interview, train and mentor junior traders.

Applicant must possess a Bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related degree field involving research and quantitative analysis, along with 5 years of experience as a Trader, Portfolio Manager, or in a related position. Alternatively, applicant may possess a Master’s or foreign equivalent degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related degree field involving research and quantitative analysis, along with 2 years of experience as a Trader, Portfolio Manager, or in a related position. Additionally, the applicant must have academic or professional experience in the following:

  1. Analyzing the US Treasury market and yield curve
  2. Understanding the affects economic/political news has on US Treasury market and yield curve
  3. Applying fundamental and technical analysis to US Treasury market yield curve
  4. Calculating mathematical functions including probability and regression analysis
  5. Profitably trading the treasury yield curve consisting of both futures and treasury cash products for the two preceding years, and
  6. Training and mentoring trading assistants

QT/GUI Developer

You are welcome to apply for a position of Qt/GUI developer with Chopper Trading. Our strategies cannot run without input from traders, real-time visual feedback and multi-threading. If you are proficient with Qt framework, don't mind working with Linux and Windows geeks and finally, are interested in advanced trading strategies, then please email us below. Software Engineers

Our success hinges on technology, and our software engineers work with and develop proprietary trading software systems that give our traders an advantage in the competitive financial markets. Technologies they use include Linux / Microsoft, C++, C#, SQL, PERL, Qt and Qpid.

Network Engineer

Chopper Trading is looking for a network engineer with experience in building and maintaining low latency trading networks. This will involve working with remote co-location sites, optimizing network latency, monitoring network performance and documenting networks.

Candidates must have expert level network knowledge, including routing, switching, firewalls, TCP/IP including multicast, and monitoring systems, and will preferably have a CCIE. Experience with exchange or market data connectivity is strongly preferred. Hands-on Linux experience is a plus.

Candidates must be reliable team players with experience in a 24 x 7 global network environment, preferably with a trading firm.

3 or more years' experience together with a BS degree in computer science or technical field is expected. Some programming experience is preferred.

Systems Engineer

Chopper Trading is looking for a systems engineer with solid Windows server experience to support and maintain our Windows and Citrix environments.

Candidates must have expert level knowledge of Windows Server 2003/2008, Active Directory, Windows XP/Vista/7, and Exchange 2007/2010. Significant experience with Citrix, MS-SQL Server and Linux is preferred.

Candidates must be reliable team players with experience in a 24 x 7 global network environment, preferably with a trading firm.

3 or more years' experience together with a BS degree in computer science or technical field is expected. Some programming experience is preferred.

Traders

Our traders participate in an 18-month training and development program. They execute trades and assist senior traders with positions, research and fulfilling operational duties. Ideal candidates have an electrical engineering background or are highly competitive with strong mathematical skills.
